Warhawk: Once the subject of Internet mockery after it was used to demo the PS3's SIXAXIS technology in 2006, Warhawk overcame that stigma and turned into one of the best online multiplayer PlayStation 3 games available. With vehicle, aircraft, and personal combat, motion-sensitive control functionality, and a benchmark 32-player multiplayer capacity, Warhawk established itself as the Crimson Skies of the new console generation (and if you don't know what that means, check out the still-awesome Xbox title and see for yourself).

Resistance: Fall of Man: Resistance was one of the first PlayStation 3 games available, and it's still a standard setter for first-person shooters thanks to its outstanding critical reception. The game, which has the player leading a team of British soldiers against an alien invasion set in the 1950s, shows off the amazing graphics power of the PS3 and has a variety of multiplayer modes and downloadable content. Most importantly, Resistance is a cinematic action epic that's as well executed as Bungie's Halo series, if not better.

Folklore: This role-player is likely to be one of the first PlayStation 3 games to develop a cult following. Despite some tedious gameplay elements, Folklore Playstation 3 Games exhibits inspired art design, smart story, and great characters, not to mention a stunning musical score. Designed by Yoshiki Okamoto, Folklore is in some ways a successor to his work on the Resident Evil series, which clearly shows in several elements of its gameplay.
