Everybody loves LEGO. But when LEGO Star Wars debuted, gamerdom was skeptical about it. At least, they were until they played it. The resulting smash hit rocketed British game developer Traveller's Tales into the spotlight, where they've continued to pair the childhood nostalgia of plastic building blocks and the childhood nostalgia of Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
But most exciting of all (maybe only for me), TT is about to release what may be the most awesome iteration of the LEGO franchise – and it stars Batman.
Based on the popular building sets, LEGO Batman lets players take on the role of Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Commissioner Gordon, and even characters from comics obscuria like Nighthawk (you remember Nighthawk, right?). Also playable are an impressive selection from the Dark Knight's rogue's gallery – Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Two-Face, Clayface and more. Like normal in LEGO games, LEGO Batman and his blocky pals have a variety of weapons, powers and costumes they can choose from, including character-specific weapons like Batarangs or Mr. Freeze's freeze gun.
LEGO Batman visits some popular Gotham City locations, like the Batcave and Arkham Asylum (the 'hub' locations that players use to move between levels). Each side – hero and villain – has 18 levels to play through, and beating a level as the heroes unlocks the same level for the other side.
When LEGO Batman swings into stores in September, don't stand in line and hope that your brick and mortar gaming store has it in stock. Order with confidence from GameQuestDirect.com and get a sealed, factory-new copy.
