In Herdy Gerdy for PlayStation 2, players assume the role of a herder named Gerdy. The evil Sadorf has cast a powerful sleeping spell on the Master Herder Gedryn to prevent his dark rule over Magical Island from ending, but the Herder's son Gerdy is determined to get his father back and save the land in this Core Design's unusual adventure. Players hope to find a cure for Gerdy’s father and enter the tournament to become the next guardian. To win the tournament, players need to herd a variety of different animals into the pens located throughout each level. Featuring a completely unique graphical style created by using hand-drawn textures and animations, Herdy Gerdy boasts nearly 40 different and expansive environments and 12 dissimilar creature sets that can be controlled and manipulated by the player. A variety of herding tools and clothing can be uncovered along the way as well, in addition to a large number of solutions, alternate pathways, and AI routines for enemies and allies alike.
