Konami’s third volume in the KARAOKE REVOLUTION series is here with more songs and the new ability to sing duets. Grab a mic and sing along to songs such as Oops, I did it again, Love Shack, and the theme from METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater. KARAOKE REVOLUTION: Vol. 3’s setup is the same as the previous installments: players sing a song and are scored based on pitch and accuracy. The game’s main mode is career mode, here called Showtime. Here, players select a character and try to go from singing in a bar to performing before a sold-out stadium. Along the way, they can unlock extra characters, settings, and songs. There’s also medley mode, where the game throws different songs at the singer in rapid succession, and scoreless mode, which works just like a karaoke machine. The main addition to this installment is in the multiplayer mode. Up to eight singers can compete in a tournament using either normal songs or medleys. Then there are the duet modes. Players can sing in pairs to defeat other singers or compete head-to-head on a song, with the better singer able to end the song early if his or her opponent isn’t on pitch. Players with the previous versions of the game will be glad to see another selection of songs available as well as the duet option, and karaoke fans who haven’t experienced KARAOKE REVOLUTION will enjoy having all the excitement of a karaoke bar in their living room.
