MYSTICAL NINJA STARRING GOEMON is a quirky, offbeat game with medieval Japan providing the backdrop for the wacky antics of Ebisumaru, a pudgy Ninja of Justice, and Goemon, his Chain Pipe-toting pal. After Ebisumaru's unsuccessful attempt to get a discount on clothes by dancing for the shopkeeper, the two characters find the Oedo Castle under attack by a giant spaceship. They decide to help and, en route, encounter such colorful and weird characters as Mr. Elly Fant, a huge roller-skating robot; a robot called Sasuke, who has a talent for fire and freeze attacks; and a ninja master named Yae, who can transform into a mermaid. Belying his rather comic appearance, Ebisumaru wields a hammer that can inflict serious injury, and later on, he learns magic spells. This 17-stage game is truly inspired with its detailed graphics and an intriguing mix of puzzle and action elements
