You can compete in 10 different events including the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, shot put, long jump, high jump, 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and the 1500-meter race. Most of the events are button-mashing exercises, requiring you to hit the buttons on the Game Boy Color as fast as possible to win the event. You can create a virtual athlete and compete in the college ranks before going professional. If trying to get through all of the practices is a bother, you can play all of the events in the Hyper mode, where you must meet certain performance standards to move on to the next event.
