In 2004, EA Sports Big introduced NFL STREET 2 to consoles everywhere. Now, a year later, the game has been unleashed on the PSP. Featuring street football at its best, NFL STREET 2: Unleashed includes all of the modes, mini-games, and action from the original and adds in some enticing new extras. All of the gameplay modes are back. NFL Challenge mode has players taking a ‘nobody’ team and challenging major NFL teams on the street for fame and fortune. In Own the City mode, the other major mode of the game, players create their own street footballer and, with training from PIMP MY RIDE host Xzibit, play through a series of pickup games and mini-games in an attempt to become the most famous player in the city. There’s also gauntlet mode, which pits players against all the other teams in succession, and separate mode, where players can play the mini-games from Own the City against the computer and other players via Wi-Fi. All of the original mini-games are here, and there are a few new ones, including an obstacle course and a dance contest. While players who already own NFL STREET 2 for a console might be tempted to pass on this PSP version, they shouldn’t; the game’s new features shouldn’t be missed, and neither should the option of taking the game anywhere on the portable system. Gamers who haven’t played one of the NFL STREET games will find NFL STREET 2: Unleashed an excellent introduction to the series.
