Packed with more features than ever before, EA Sports’ TRIPLE PLAY 2002 is made especially for hardball aficionados. Boasting an all-new presentation (featuring Bob Costas in the play-by-play seat), the game looks and sounds more like a television broadcast than its previous incarnations did. There are 3D head scans of the players, and motion-capture animation further emphasizes the realistic appearance of the game. Of course, you’ll still have access to fully licensed MLB- and MLBPA-only rosters, stadiums, and other stuff. And you can still choose to play a single game, take on a whole season, or dive headlong into the Playoffs. The new Home Run Derby mode provides countless thrills, as you pick your favorite Major League slugger and see how many dingers you can crank. A new control scheme makes both hitting and fielding more intuitive (though not necessarily easier), and the stadiums have each been rebuilt to closer resemble their real-life counterparts.
