Capcom’s DEVIL KINGS for the PS2 is a fast-paced, beat-em-up action game that puts players in the role of one of 12 powerful fighters in the middle of a mystical fantasy world similar to, and yet different from, Feudal Japan. DEVIL KINGS revolves around a number of factions battling for control of the world. The conquest mode follows each of the 12 characters through cut scenes and anime-inspired clips. Each character has a unique look and style, from the wicked Devil King to the elegant Lady Butterfly to the cute, mysterious girl known as Puff. Six players, each with his or her own unique personality and fighting style, are available at the beginning of the game. By clearing story mode with each, players will unlock the other half of the cast. In an unique addition, character’s health, attack, and defense points increase the more a player uses that character. Each character also controls an element (darkness, ice, fire, or lightening) that they can use in special attacks. Conquest mode, the main mode, has players attempting to conquer the 14 territories of the world. Players can equip weapons, armor, and accessories on their character, then enter the battleground, defeat the minions, and finally, take out the boss in order to claim the territory. Gamers who enjoy similar fighting games like DYNASTY WARRIORS will find DEVIL KINGS to have an exciting storyline and a fun group of characters. It’s sure to lure gamers in with its fun, entertaining gameplay.
