All the crashes and smashes of the popular RAYMAN franchise get cranked up another notch for this 2002 series release. The limbless Rayman and his wacky friends have a whole new collection of gameplay modes this time around, appealing to longtime fans and series newcomers alike. One mode, an aggressive footrace, has many similarities to previous RAYMAN installments; a series of switches and tricks can be employed to alter the interactive levels, which will make it harder for opponents to catch up. Another mode serves as a deathmatch-style encounter, with tons of bizarre weapons and power-ups strewn about the boards. It’s probably needless to mention the fact that there are dozens of unlockable features throughout the game, though you might be surprised at some of characters and environments are tucked away for your discovery. Complete with some of the best 3D graphics available on a home console, ARENA firmly cements RAYMAN’s place in video game history.
