Comic Mischief
Cat lovers may be feeling a bit left out with all the attention dog sim games like NINTENDO DS have been getting, but now they can get in on all of the fun of raising a virtual pet with Ubisoft’s CATZ for the Game Boy Advance. Featuring different breeds, different attitudes, and tons of feline fun, CATZ is great for any cat lover. The game begins with players adopting their own virtual kitten from one of thirteen different breeds, including Persian, Himalayan, Abyssinian, and Ocicat. Once they’ve selected their feline friend, players need to name the kitty and then take him or her home. Then, of course, they have to train the cat, feed it, groom it, and otherwise care for their new friend. The way players raise and attend to their cat affects its personality. Cats who are groomed, played with, and cuddled will become more friendly and attentive, while cats who are ignored or not fed properly will become angry and temperamental. The cats communicate with players by making various sounds, including purring and meowing, and through the actions they take. A hungry cat will meow at its food dish, while a happy kitten will purr as it’s petted. In addition to playing with their cat, players can also link up with another player using the GBA link to give their cat some company. While it’s not quite the same as petting a real cat, feline lovers will nevertheless enjoy playing CATZ and training their own virtual kitten.
